Project Overview
As the First Street developments in Manchester City Centre neared completion, NRC WWS was called in to carry out final drainage remediation works to ensure the system was in optimal condition before handover. This project formed part of our wider Commercial Drain Services in Manchester, supporting developments across the city.
Located in a highly developed urban environment, the site required a non-disruptive approach.
Our team used a combination of no-dig methods, including precision drain cutting for obstruction removal, and patch relining repairs, to clear and rehabilitate the pipework without any need for excavation. The best performance solution while avoiding disruption to the surrounding area.
The Challenge
- The site was in the final stages of construction, meaning surfaces were completed and disruption from excavation was not an option.
- Multiple obstructions and defects were found in the underground drainage, putting the long-term health of the system at risk.
- The city centre location meant work had to be carried out with minimal noise, mess, or obstruction to nearby buildings and roadways.
The Solution
- CCTV Drain Surveys used to inspect the entire drainage system and locate areas of damage, blockages, and intrusions.
- Drain Cutting & Obstruction Removal with high precision, robotic cutters to safely remove hard obstructions and intruding materials.
- No Dig Patch Lining to repair damaged pipe sections using, restoring structural integrity without digging.
